Coming Home

Ephesians 4:1-2 says, "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."

This blog represents a "calling" years in the making.  At the age of 16, I felt the Lord calling me into full time ministry.  I surrendered and headed off to Christian University at the age of 18.  But true to my rebel roots, I grew tired of following the narrow path. After several moves, a few degree changes, and years of living life MY way, I ended up where most rebellious children end up...rock bottom.  Thankfully, I serve a God of a thousand chances.  Just like the prodigal son, I came crawling back, begging for forgivness and a place to call home. And just like the loving father that he is, God welcomed me with open arms. Now, as a single, 32 year old recovering from a shameful past, I find that those rebellious ways can be hard to shake.  The things of this world continue to tempt me and many times, humility, gentleness, patience and love are last on my list of qualities, but just as Paul said, this one thing I do, "forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

My prayer for this blog and my ministry as a whole is that God will allow my path to cross with other rebels, misfits, and prodigal daughters who simply need to hear that just as He was with me, God is waiting for them with open arms if they will just return to Him and heed his calling.  Together we can do it!
